‘What are you doing?’ she asked.

‘I’m hanging this picture on the wall,’ I answered. ‘It’s a new one. Do you like it?’

She looked at it critically for a moment. ‘It’s all right,’ she said, ‘but isn’t it upside

(1)possible, notable, reliable, present, involved, concerned, imaginable,

conceivable(可想像的), responsible等。

• the man responsible应负责任的人

the responsible man可信赖的人

the sum total总额

Monday to Saturday inclusive

• the City of London proper伦敦市区

• the dictionary proper字典正文

golden, latter, little, wooden, elder, outer, spare(空用的), inner(内部的)等

• ill(=bad)健康不佳 ill will恶意

• Breakfast is ready.

• He has ready tongue.

• I am sorry for the mistake I have made.

• It was a sorry sight.

He is very alone.

正: He is very much alone或 He is all alone.

误: She is very asleep.

正: She is fast/sound asleep.

误: He was very awake.

正: He was wide awake.

• He was quite content.

• I feel very glad about it.

• She is fond of popular music.

• a small round table一张小圆桌

• a dirty old brown coat一件又脏又旧的褐色大衣

• This is a valuable old brown French homemade kitchen table.
