• 表示时间、金钱、距离、质量等的复数名词,在表示单位数量用作主语时,通常

被看作整体,谓语动词用单数;如果强调个体,谓语动词用复数

◦ Two hundred miles is a long distance.

200 英里是很长的一段距离。

◦ Fifty kilograms is not too heavy to be carried.

50kg 不至于重到扛不起来。

◦ Eight dollars is enough for him.

8 美元就够他用了。

◦ 100 cents make a dollar.

• 不定代词 anyone, anybody, anything, everyone, everybody, everything,

someone,something 等作主语时,谓语动词用单数

Roman Holiday

《罗马假日》

Roman Holiday is a Romantic comedy released in 1953 by Paramount Pictures. It stars

Gregory Peek as a reporter and Audrey Hepburn as a royal princess of some unspecified

European country. It is directed by William Wyler who still has a record of more people

getting to the Oscar sweeptakers for his films than any other director. Hepburn won an

Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance; the screenplay and costume design

also won.

Anne, the crown princess, embarks on a highly publicized tour of European capitals. When

she and her royal entourage arrive in Rome, she begins to rebel against her restricted schedule.

One night Anne sneaks out to her room, hops into the back of a delivery truck and escapes.

She runs into an American newspaper reporter, Joe Bradley, stationed in Rome. In order to

make an exclusive interview with the princess, Joe pretends that he doesn't recognize her and

offers to give her a guided tour of Rome. Through all this, Joe falls in love with her. But a

relationship is impossible. Anne finally bids farewell to Joe and returns to the embassy. Joe

decides not to write the story.
